Rayners Lane and Harrow-on-the-Hill Signal Cabins Visit
Tuesday 15th July
We have arranged a special visit to The Rayners Lane and Harrow-on-the-Hill Signal Cabins, due to close in 2025 as part of the Four Lines Modernisation (4LM) re-signalling programme. Chris Taggart, Head of London Underground Service Control, is kindly allowing a small group of Friends to see the inner workings of these cabins.
Rayners Lane controls train movements on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines to Uxbridge; and Harrow-on-the-Hill, which is the largest operational signal cabin on the London Underground, interfaces with Network Rail signalling for Chiltern trains to and from Marylebone.
Due to the limited number of spaces available for this visit, we will be running a Ballot to select attendees.
Successful applicants will be split into two groups and meet at 13:00 at either Rayners Lane or Harrow stations depending on their allocated group. They will visit the local cabin first, then travel to the other cabin so that all attendees get to see both signal boxes.

For those who are unsuccessful, we hope to offer this visit again later in the year.
Please note: Due to the construction of these cabins, this visit may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. At Harrow-on-the-Hill, there are 70 steps up to the signal cabin. Please wear sensible shoes.
