Welcome to ATTC's latest tour to Delaine Buses of Bourne, Lincolnshire.

 

The origins of Delaine Buses can be traced back to 1890 when the family introduced horse-drawn vehicles to take people to local markets. The first motor bus was introduced by Thomas Arthur Smith in 1919 and daily services from Bourne to Peterborough and Stamford were established by 1923. The sight of the familiar blue and cream buses now dates back beyond living memory and the Delaine brand has acquired an enviable reputation based on the ethos of quality, continuity and reliability which the family view as important today as it’s always been.

 

Today the 33 strong fleet based on the original site in Spalding Road, Bourne, Lincolnshire is managed by his four Grandson’s and two Great-Granddaughter’s and continues to serve the four Market Towns of Bourne, Stamford, Market Deeping and Spalding in South Lincolnshire and the City of Peterborough.

 

In 2015 the family founded the Delaine Heritage Trust and established the Delaine Bus Museum which houses the extensive Delaine Archive, with the centrepiece being the Delaine Heritage Fleet which consists of seven former Delaine vehicles dating back to the 1950s.

 

Tour details:

Participants should make their own way to Peterborough station for a heritage bus departure at 10:00.

10:45: Arrive at Delaine Buses Museum - Tea and Coffee, Presentation and Museum Tour.

12:00–13:00: Heritage bus rides to Rippingale and Greatford using two different heritage vehicles.

13:00–13:45: Fish and Chips or Sausage and Chips lunch.

13:45–15:00: Heritage bus rides using two different heritage vehicles.

16:00: Depart for Peterborough station (ETA 16:35).

        

Please state any food allergies or dietary requirements when booking. ATTC will try to accommodate these, in conjunction with the company hosts and catering suppliers and will advise if any particular requirements cannot be met.
