Mike Kay from our tours associate ATTC writes:

We are always on the look-out for new and interesting tours for our Friends.  With that aim in mind, we can offer you the chance to travel First Class on "The End of Southern Steam Special” operated by the Railway Touring Company.

This day trip provides an opportunity to visit the Yeovil Railway Centre and the popular seaside resort of Weymouth. The special train marks the anniversary of the end of Southern steam. It will be hauled by Merchant Navy class locomotive 35028 “Clan Line” from Victoria to Yeovil via Basingstoke, Salisbury and Sherborne. After time to visit the Railway Centre, the train continues to Weymouth under diesel power. After another break to visit some of the town’s attractions, the steam loco will haul the train back to London via Bournemouth and Southampton.

An added attraction is a relatively late start from Victoria, which should avoid the need for overnight hotel accommodation before the tour.
