Between 1997 and 2004, Ian Critchley was General Manager Aircraft Services responsible for the British Airways Ramp operation at Heathrow.

Looking back at that time now, the highlight for me was my involvement with Concorde. In my talk I want to share with you some of the story of the most beautiful aircraft ever”.

Ian’s talk will include:

  • A bit of history, the birth of Concorde and its operational life
  • Just a few of the almost unbelievable facts and figures about Concorde …  how fast, how high, and how did it do all that?
  • What it was like to “Ride the Rocket”: the sights and sounds, the experience and the glamour, and who you could be sitting next to!
  • Why we had to say goodbye … the impact of the French Concorde crash, and 9/11
  • The final flights, and the last “wave”…

"It was my privilege to play an extremely small part in the life of that magical machine; and I hope you enjoy what I have to say..."

Join Ian in the Cubic Theatre at the London Transport Museum on Monday 8th June at 18:15.
