The Story of Aldenham Reservoir

The Story of Aldenham Reservoir

Built in the late 18th century by the Grand Junction Canal Company, Aldenham reservoir is a prominent feature of the geography of southern Hertfordshire. In this talk, John Cartledge will illustrate its history over the past 230 years and describe the various uses to which it has been put.

John first encountered the reservoir on cross-country runs as a schoolboy more than 60 years ago, and was subsequently county councillor for the area. He has played an active part in recent debates over the best means of securing its future.

Join John in the Holden Room at the Acton Depot on Thursday 30th April at 14:00.
