Through the good offices of the Gloucester Warwickshire Steam Railway management, and David Gardner of GWR, we are able to offer a special in-depth tour of the impressive GWSR heritage line, involving a 30-mile round trip. Originally opened in 1906, the line was closed to passengers in 1960 and to freight in 1976. It reopened as a heritage railway in 1984.
We will join our train at Toddington and will travel the whole length of the line, including the new extension to Broadway, which will only just have opened the previous week; and, of course, to Cheltenham Race Course station.
