Open Access Rail, the way ahead

Martijn Gilbert will give a presentation on Open Access Rail operations, including Hull Trains which was the UK’s first Open Access Rail operator 23 years ago, and Lumo which is the UK’s newest and greenest passenger train operator, and has brought a new approach to the Open Access rail model. He will also cover the company’s exciting plans to take the Hull Trains model to Sheffield and extend Lumo to Glasgow.

Martijn Gilbert is Managing Director for FirstGroup’s Open Access Rail Operations (Lumo and Hull Trains, plus a board member of Tram Operations Limited – Croydon Tramlink).. Prior to this he was Managing Director for The Go-Ahead Group’s regional bus operations Go North East and East Yorkshire, having moved to the North from his role as Chief Executive of Reading Buses in 2018. He returned to the rail sector 18 months ago after a decade working in bus, and prior to this spent 7 years with Arriva including in its rail division. He started his career as a trainee schedule complier with London Underground 23 years ago.

Please Note: For technical reasons, we will not be able to broadcast Martijn's presentation live on YouTube. However, we hope to record the evening and make available on YouTube in a few days time.
