Steaming between Moorgate, Hammersmith and Northfields, the rare sight of a steam train on the Underground Metropolitan was met with disbelief, amazement, delight (and just occasionally seeming indifference) by ordinary passengers waiting for their trains.
Happiest of all were the train passengers riding behind Met Locomotive No. 1, who had the chance to sit in the beautifully restored Jubilee Coach 353 or the Chesham set. The train was also made up of theMetropolitan Milk Van and the 1920s Sarah Siddons electric locomotive.
Actors and a brass band entertained passengers at Moorgate Station and the Battle Bus and RT4712 drew the crowds at Hammersmith.
