Night time steam rehearsal

Night time steam rehearsal
Wednesday night saw a full scale rehearsal of the steam train operation scheduled for the coming two Saturdays - 2nd & 9th August. The trains celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Hammersmith & City Line which opened in June 1864.

The night-time rehearsal saw the train operate, as it will during the day on the two Saturdays, from Northfields to Moorgate, then to Hammersmith, back to Moorgate and finally to Northfields.

All went well with the rehearsal, which was attended by a number of Friends who will be acting as car stewards on the public trips.

Tickets are still available for these trips, and for those on Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th August between Rickmansworth and Chesham, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Chesham branch. Bookings

The photo shows the train at Hammersmith being topped up with water before the return trip to Moorgate shortly before 0300 on 31st July.
