Friends crew bus on Brighton run

Bank holiday sunshine saw Friends crew one of the buses on the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society's annual Brighton run.

General Secretary, Guy Marriott, and Friend Ian Read crewed the Museum's Red Arrow AEC Merlin MBA 582. The Museum also entered another single decker in the form of Scooter LT 1076, which won a Best in class award.

The run, which starts at Crystal Palace, marks the 53rd annual run in which commercial vehicles, bus, fire engines, vans and steam vehicles of all sizes make they way to Brighton's Madeira Drive where the public can admire them. This year's event has special meaning as it is dedicated to all the men who lost their lives in the Great War.

For the first time, the Friends' display vehicle travelled to Brighton where information was handed out about the buses and the work of the Friends.

The run was also the driving swansong for Guy Marriott who retires from his General Secrtary's role at the Annual Members' Meeting in two weeks' time.
