RECREATING OXTED BUS ROUTES

On 23 September, 36 Friends had a thoroughly enjoyable day recreating former Country Bus routes 465, 465 and 485, which served Oxted, Westerham and Edenbridge. Travel was by RF bus kindly provided by the London Bus Company. The day included a visit to Chartwell with an afternoon tea.

Expert guides on the tour were John Kateley and Ray Stenning. John  is a former driver at Chelsham garage and sometime driver of these bus routes in the early 1970s. Ray grew up in the area where these three routes operated during 1950s, 60s and early 70s.
