BRAKE VAN ARRIVES BACK AT ACTON

BRAKE VAN ARRIVES BACK AT ACTON

The first of two brake vans arrived back at Acton Depot on 21st November, following restoration by Rampart Engineering at Chesterfield.

Two brake vans owned by London Transport Museum have been restored as part of the Q-stock project. The brake vans will be used as match wagons to allow the restored Q-stock cars (which have Ward couplings) to couple to other rolling stock when necessary for operational moves.

The lorry returning the first brake van to Acton was due to return to Chesterfield with the one of the Q38 cars, being sent to Rampart's for restoration work on the traction motors and other "under floor" equipment.

The plan is for three Q-stock cars to be fully restored to operational condition for 2026.
