RM1 AT COVENT GARDEN
RM 1 was on display on the Covent Garden Piazza on Thursday 25 June. The appearance of the prototype Routemaster was in support of the launch of London Transport Museum's exciting plans for an extensive update to its dispays and visitor experiences, known as LTM 50; this peoject is due for completion in time for the 50th anniversary of the Museum's presence at Covent Garden in 2030.
RM 1 was successfully moved for an overnight stay in the LTM on Wednesday evening ready for Thursday morning, when it was moved into place outside. It was on show from 07.30 to 18:30 in the scorching heat.
The young lady in the photo with Friends' volunteer Paul Furze is Erica, who is regular visitor to Acton Depot for the open weekends. Erica is from America and has an American bus driving licence; she drove for a company in Davis California that operates some ex-London RTs.
