Leon will explain the power sources that are now available as alternatives to the diesel engine; explain the pros and cons of the leading alternative technologies: battery electric and hydrogen; and put these current opportunities in their historic context, referring back to trams, trolleybuses and early unsuccessful efforts to harness battery power for buses.
