LEON DANIELS, Managing Director, Surface Transport, Transport for London

Leon joined Transport for London in April 2011 after a career in Government, shipping, tourism and public transport.

He spent 27 years in the private sector and was in business both on his own account and as a Director at FirstGroup. He has wide national and international experience having worked in Hong Kong and the USA, and has overseen several significant business acquisitions and sales at home and overseas.

After 13 years at FirstGroup he joined Transport for London ahead of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to oversee the delivery of surface transport in what is now recognised as a hugely successful event.

His responsibilities as Managing Director, Surface Transport include the safe and efficient running of London's roads, bus services, taxis, cycle hire, river services, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, Emirates Air Line and Trams.

Leon will be talking to the Friends about his career in the transport industry and his passion for buses.
