CONGRATULATIONS FRED

Fred was met at East Croydon station by a group of Friends and fellow volunteers and transport enthusiasts. He was conveyed to East Grinstead by one of his favourite vehicles: the prototype Routemaster Green Line coach CRL4, owned by the London Bus Company. The journey continued by Bluebell Railway steam train to Sheffield Park, where a buffet lunch was provided. Tribute was paid to Fred's continuing volunteer support to the Bluebell Railway, London Transport Museum Friends and the Epping Ongar Railway. Fred in turn thanked all those present (and many others who had sent best wishes) for the companionship that his circle of transport enthusiast colleagues gave him.
