Colin Billington Collection

Colin Billington Collection

Fifield, near Maidenhead, is the home of the Thames Valley and Great Western Omnibus Trust, along with Colin Billington’s renowned, and very extensive, collection of historic buses. These are in various stages of complete or partial restoration. The title of the trust gives a hint as to their main areas of interest

On site there are around 70 vehicles in total, including several London types, a substantial collection of Reading and Thames Valley buses, about 20 from the West Country and a good variety of others.

The Friends are visiting Fifield on Sunday 16th November will a heritage bus from the collection collecting visitors from Slough station.

There will then be a talk about the collection and the restoration work, followed by tours of the site and the opportunity to ride on further vehicles. A buffet lunch will also be provided.

Admission and lunch will be on the basis of a voluntary donation, but as it is a private collection, facilities for people with mobility impairment are limited. Many of the vehicles are also closely parked making access to some areas difficult.
